Version 2
Scoping, strategy of Sony Music/Sony BMG’s version of the brightcove player as one of the company’s initial clients. Helped shape UI and the player’s feature set, and eventually created a series of designed skins for our launch. The model of player we helped create can still be seen in use on other media properties today.

The redesign of the Sony Music site was the start of an effort to align all of the record labels’ individual online presences under one common UI/wireframe. Content format was also matched from site to site, allowing one core group to efficiently manage updates from disparate marketing sources.
Setting up this system created immediately visible efficiencies in content management once it was rolled out to other label sites: standardized album cover thumbnail sizes and feature image sizes allowed for quick image cutting. Copy editing sped up due to succinct messaging with text character limits. Feature modules across all labels enjoyed the benefit of eachothers’ technology upgrades.
Update(June 2007): While the site continued to exist and was updated after SONY BMG was formed (from a corporate perspective, it shouldn’t have), the domain has been redirected as of late.
