Getting to work on this combined the best of all worlds- interface design that fit into the prequel-era Star Wars universe, getting to see artwork and character imagery that had to be kept very, very, very secret- and getting to figure out which new glossy image of a young Darth Vader I’d want to feature. Not to mention the badass General Grievous and clone trooper images…

First off, I was very torn whether or not to display Yoda or Jango Fett in this screenshot. The main design challenge here was to make sure to include enough music content and imagery, otherwise we’d have to reconceptualize from scratch (it was not meant to be a movie site, after all). The next challenge was wondering what the design itself should be - so having been given access to advance artwork and photos, I decided I’d shoot for a user interface and animation style that would be at home in the controls of the starships in the prequels. Also attempted a curved scrollbar, which didn’t come out too shabby once I realized I just had to code some fancy masking.
